As opposed to even five years ago, the whole spectrum of video, social media channels are in now in use. However, the channels are always changing.

In a 2023 survey of nearly 1,000 respondents who are marketers actively using video or are consumers of video, were interviewed as to social media usage. What is amazing is how quickly things change.

For example, in 2022, about 13-percent of brands and organizations used Snapchat. In 2024, it rose to 57-percent.

In terms of online marketing platforms, far and away, YouTube was the most popular place where people went to find information at about 78-percent of users, with Facebook falling behind at 71-percent. For example, last-year’s “social media darling” TikTok, was chosen only about 52-percent of the time and Instagram was not much better.

In fact, in social media usage across the board by all businesses and categories, YouTube is chosen as an information source in 9-out-of-10 cases, while videos posted on LinkedIn were seen a little over 7-out-of-10 times. Facebook is still a strong platform for social media and surprisingly, it is holding stronger than either Instagram or TikTok.
