The 17-Hour Difference

This week, and every week in South Carolina and Georgia, family, friends and neighbors, people you know will spend an average of 17 hours of their precious time watching online video content.

Just what that video content might be, is as varied as the viewer. A remote worker in Powdersville might be viewing a corporate explainer video; a homeowner in Greenville could be learning how to build a dog house from a YouTube video or a Mauldin high school soccer coach might be reviewing a video on kicking corner kicks by a professional soccer coach.

What Primeau Productions does know is that for 17-hours each week, people will be watching something of importance to them. Here’s another fact: in 2018, people were watching video 10.5-hours each week. It you’re about to say, video is becoming a way of life, you would be right. In fact, 51-percent of us are watching videos sent to us by a friend.

Where are they watching?

The most popular video channel we are going to, is YouTube. In fact, 90-percent of videos may be found on that site. Facebook and LinkedIn are close behind at 86-percent and 79-percent respectively. In terms of effective marketing, YouTube and LinkedIn are ahead of all other online marketing platforms, with Twitter (“X”), with TikTok and Snapchat lagging far behind. By the way, “live” video streaming has still failed to catch on with audiences and is viewed only about 36-percent of the time.

Naturally, when a video is produced it is usually put out over multiple sites, from a company’s website to YouTube to be seen at tradeshows or corporate training sessions. Sometimes an entire series of videos are produced at the same time or they are released one-by-one.

Whether a landscaper in Athens, Georgia is explaining Japanese gardening principles or a Spartanburg, South Carolina lawyer is explaining wills and estates, chances are great clients and customers will see it on a video, not read about it in a brochure or advertisement.

The difference in watching

Obviously, a trip to YouTube or to a website or anywhere a video may be viewed, is not without its competition. A flooring company in Liberty, South Carolina explaining the difference between floor tile materials, may be competing against other businesses just about anywhere. A catering company in Greer, South Carolina explaining the most cost-effective wedding ideas is going up against many other catering companies.

Producing a video that will make organizations successful, turning out video content that produces a great ROI, requires that people will watch it. Primeau Productions specializes in producing videos with an eye for detail. From script to screen, we use top-quality equipment and top-quality people.

The difference in watching video that is “nice” versus video that is outstanding, is never accidental. Whether your video is to be a commercial, documentary, interview, testimonial, shorts, educational or for any other purpose, leaving it up to chance will rarely lead to sales or any other specific and intended purpose.

To get the best results means to take a professional, focused approach. Primeau Productions wants to help your organization reach its highest objectives. How will your customers spend their 17-hours this week, and will you be part of their plans?
