7 Reasons Why Training Videos Have Never Been So Important

Primeau Productions would like to report that the latest video industry statistics reflecting 2024 and the first half of 2025, show that nearly one-third of all the videos being produced by organizations are for the purpose of employee education.

About 20% being produced are for safety, administrative and sales functions with about 10% used for onboarding new employees. If we consider the sheer number of videos being produced, the commitment to employee education through video in South Carolina, Georgia and across the nation, is staggering.

There are at least 7 reasons why training videos for staff and suppliers have never been so important:

1. Welcoming is important. Who welcomes new employees to your company? Is it the HR director, the CEO, the immediate boss or, as frequently happens, nobody? A warm message of welcome shared with all new employees at every level has been found to be exceptionally important. The welcoming can be combined with training or policies but in any case, it shows employees that upper management cares.

2. Emphasizing the concept of team. Training and educational videos across the employee base of an organization shows employees that management is equally available to everyone. It is a great equalizer. To that end, the concept of inclusivity has become extremely important. There is no more important sense of belonging than viewing the same video message with peers.

3. Keeping good employees and making them better. Educational videos have been shown to increase knowledge, keep employees and help them better understand the inner workings and decisions of the organization. When any message is consistently shared, no matter the news, it can be a powerful tool. By the way, video has been shown to be up to ten-times more effective than listening to a boring lecture!

4. Video is more cost-effective than coursework. Hands-down, a training, safety or educational video can be much more effective than a seminar or live training event. Again, we must remind key decision makers that when messages are repeated, or “handed-off” to less informed supervisors, the message is often diluted or misinterpreted. Video is more cost effective in the long run. There is no question it is more efficient.

5. How do we learn? Primeau productions is hardly breaking new ground here, but everyone, from the new intern to the seasoned executive leader, learns best by receiving messages of 5-minutes or less All-day seminars rarely accomplish what a few well-spaced videos can accomplish.

6. Risk and compliance issues are best “seen and heard.” Vital issues such as risk issues or legal issues must be reinforced and stressed. Most important: if an employees sees a commonly shared video, there can be little room for claiming ignorance on a vital issue.

7. Improvement of skills, enhancement of knowledge. How does an employee become more empowered and successful?  There is no better tool than education. At a time when cross-training and skill building have become critical, the use of video has proven itself to be extremely effective.
