Ten Steps for VHS to Digital Video Restoration:
Step One: The VHS tape is played in a professional VHS deck and captured into a computer in real time using an analogue to digital capture card.
Step Two: The Digitized video video is then properly formatted for full 16 X 9 formatting (the most common Aspect Ratio today).
Step Three: Enhancement filters are applied to restore and optimize the analogue video signal
Step Four: Faded colors in VHS video are corrected using Color Correction Software (Example: Magic Bullet)
Step Five: Many VHS tapes that include old family gatherings may also include television shows. These extraneous movies and TV shows will be removed
Step Six: Forensic sharpening filters are added as part of the VHS video restoration and enhancement process
Step Seven: Forensic brightness and contrast filtering and settings are adjusted as necessary
Step Eight: Deinterlacing filtering and techniques are applied if playback wear is poor or distorted
Step Nine: Exported from video restoration program into professional DVD authoring software program
Step Ten: Chapter marks added for easy viewing and playback
